Dr. Krishna Prasad, FICS
President - 2020-2023
A Post Graduate in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata and he also has a PhD in Shipping. Dr. Krishna Prasad has 37 years’ experience in various facets of commercial shipping. He has hands-on experience in Shipbroking, Ship-operations and Ship Management. Presently, he is the Managing Director of Aster Marine Cargo Dubai, a company focusing on Shipbroking, Project Cargo Logistics and Consultancy.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, London. He is also Vice Chair of the Commission on Customs & Trade Facilitation of the International Chamber of Commerce UAE. Dr. Prasad is also a Board Member of the National Association of Freight and Logistics. He is the former Chairman of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Middle East Branch.
Dr. Krishna Prasad has presented papers in many renowned International Shipping Seminars and Conferences. He has also been a visiting faculty in many Institutes and Universities in India and in Dubai. He is presently a Professor of Practice at AMET University India. He also conducts corporate training programmes and has undertaken consultancy assignments to many companies in India, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Mr. Krishnan Subramaniam, FICS
President - 2017-2020
Krishnan Subramaniam is a distinguished expert in supply chain management, logistics, commercial shipping, and industry education, with nearly four decades of experience. He currently serves as Strategic Adviser for the Transworld Group in the UAE and India, specializing in tankers and liquid cargo logistics. In his leadership roles, he is the International Vice Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) and spearheads the ICS's global digitalization initiative. Additionally, he is a key member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) UAE's Steering Committee for the Customs & Trade Facilitation Commission.
Throughout his career, Krishnan has held significant positions at Bharat Petroleum Corporation in India, Shell Petroleum in Dubai and Singapore, Aurora Tankers/IMC Group in Singapore, Fusion Group in Dubai and India, and Petrochem Middle East in Dubai. As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (FICS), he is also an active trainer with organizations such as the ICS, Blue Ocean Corporation, Maersk Training, and regional shipping associations in Dubai and Bahrain.
Krishnan’s contributions extend into academia, where he serves as an Academic Advisor at various maritime institutions and as an adjunct faculty member at S.P. Jain School of Global Management, Dubai, UPES India and Gujarat Maritime University, sharing his deep knowledge of shipping and logistics with the next generation of industry professionals.
Capt. Peter Machado, FICS
President - 2014-2017
Peter Machado served at sea including Captain-in-Command. He commenced his sea career in 1973 on TS Rajendra where he was awarded the President’s, Gold Medal.
Peter’s marine and shore-based career spans 47 years including 26 years with international militaries in various senior capacities - Fleet Manager, Technical Manager, Group General Manager, COO, CEO and Managing Director; Base Operating Services and Full Line Subsistence and MRO services; Extensive experience in procurement and total supply chain, both commercial and military as well as Digitisation – automation, integration, machine learning, robotics, catalogs, processes, and systems.
Currently Managing Director of PM3 and co-founder of eGenie Forum. Pro bono services include FNI; FICS – ME Branch President, Member of the Controlling Council and Executive Council; 19 years on the IMPA General Council; sponsor of a school and involved with several vocational guidance and education institutions.
Capt. Behram Surty, FICS
President - 2010-2013
Capt. Behram Surty is a Master Mariner by profession. His marine and shore-based career spans over 38 years with diverse management positions, serving top enterprises (Neptune Orient Lines, Singapore, Shipping Corporation of India, Rais Hassan Saadi Group, U.A.E) in managerial positions.
Capt. Behram Surty has been a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (FICS) U.K since 1984. He is a founder member of the U.A.E branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, which was set up in 1995 by a special decree. He was part of the ICS delegation team that met the ruler of Dubai (His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum) in Zabeel Palace, Dubai when discussions to start the U.A.E branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers was very rudimentary way back in 1995.
Elected as Vice Chairman of the U.A.E branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (2004-2009) and subsequently as its President (2010-2013), he delivered his best efforts and rigorously campaigned through the instrumentality of networking and academic sessions, a corporate training program that helped promote U.A.E branch of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers on all aspects including membership additions. Specifically, under his guidance, four international seminars were held to promulgate the core ideas of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers for the benefit of the Dubai shipping fraternity.
He has been heading as a General Manager Bay Lines/ Sunmarine Shipping Services (Rais Hassan Saadi Group, Dubai), since 1998, the top Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier that serves with its own fleet of inventory in the corridors of the Indian Sub-continent and West Asia Gulf Ports over the last three decades unremittingly.
