SUPPORTED TRAINING - Shipping Contracts Management – Master Class

The training will be spread over 7 days (Sep 19, Sep 21, Sep 26, Sep 28, Oct 03, Oct 05, Oct 10) and will be held between 11am and 1pm Dubai time on zoom.

The 7 sessions will cover the following topics. 

• Introduction to Contract Law: basics, types of contracts, language & homemade clauses, sale of goods act 1979; unfair contract terms act 1977
• Ship Management Contract: rights, obligations and limits of liability.
• Charter Parties: key obligations & differences; disputes (arrived ship, NOR, laytime, underperformance, delayed delivery, bills of lading etc.)
• Bunker Supply Contract: liability issues; discussion of Res Cogitans case.
• Sale Forms: evolution NSF 1987-2012 & Shipsale 2022; Singapore Sale Form 2011; key clauses (inspection, drydocking, condition on delivery, buyers & sellers default); a review of previous relevant authorities
• Contract of Affreightment (dry bulk as an example): evaluation; negotiation; execution; risk mitigation strategies (counter-party risk; physical hedging and derivative positions)
• Bareboat Charter Contract: operating leases; key financial elements; balance sheet issues; construction of Barecon2017
